Tottenham expert lauds Daniel Levy ‘masterstroke’ after Dele Alli update

Daniel Levy has pulled off a “masterstroke” with Tottenham set to receive a fee for the transfer of Dele Alli.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

According to the Daily Mail (19 August), Besiktas are eager to sign Alli this week and Everton are willing to sanction a deal – despite only signing the midfielder in January.

Everton

Alli came off the bench in both of Everton’s opening two Premier league games this season, playing a combined 38 minutes but failed to appear against Nottingham Forest on Saturday (20 August).

However, as per Mark Douglas (18 August), Everton will still have to pay Tottenham a significant proportion of the original fee agreed when Alli joined the club in January.

Wenham insists this is another “masterstroke” from Levy.

“Alli is being shipped out to Besiktas by the looks of it,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It shows Tottenham were absolutely spot on in getting shot of him for nothing in January, just getting the £150,000-a-week off the wage bill.

“If he can’t get in that Everton side then that is shambolic, they are terrible. At least Tottenham got the good side of Alli.

“Mourinho has been proved absolutely right. In the documentary he said Alli would regret his career in 20 years, was he wrong?

“It sounds like Tottenham are still going to receive a fee for him somehow.

Everton

It was a masterstroke to get rid of his wages when he has zero interest in being a professional footballer.

“So it’s another masterstroke from Levy.”
