Tottenham expert left baffled by Antonio Conte lies as ‘disastrous’ claim issued

Antonio Conte is trying to “rewrite history” in his Tottenham press conferences to cover up his side’s poor performances.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Tottenham lost 2-0 to Aston Villa on 1 January, consigning the club to a fifth league defeat of the season.

As per Opta, Tottenham have now conceded at least twice in each of their last seven Premier League games and have conceded first in their last 10.

Wenham is baffled as to why Conte is trying to cover for his team in his post-match press conferences.

“The players on the pitch did not perform, it’s that simple,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Antonio Conte likes to rewrite history in his press conferences and he tried to say that we were the better team and played well.

“To me, that wasn’t the case. That wasn’t what I saw. What I saw was another underwhelming home performance.

“Early on in the season you don’t mind a poor performance if you are getting three points but when we are at home against Villa, you have to win.

“This was not some vintage Aston Villa performance, their fans will admit that. Villa were average and an average VIlla performance should not get three points away at Tottenham.

“It’s the second time this season we have failed to score in a game with the other game being that disastrous performance at Old Trafford.

“You can take that, you can lose at Old Trafford, it happens. To lose 2-0 at home to Villa is completely unacceptable.”
