Tottenham expert predicts Japhet Tanganga to join rivals in January

Japhet Tanganga should join a Premier League side on loan in January as his value is only diminishing at Tottenham.

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

The 23-year-old is yet to feature in the Premier League this season though he has featured on the bench on three occasions.

His sole appearance this term came against Marseille on 7 September as he made a 17-minute cameo off the bench.

Wenham insists the best option for the defender is now a loan move, possibly to Bournemouth.

“He’s only played once this season, off the bench in the Champions League, it’s a bit rubbish, isn’t it?” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Where are we at with him? For his own benefit, he needs to go and do something else. Is that going out on loan for six months?

“I think that’s the best bet to increase his value. In the summer we saw journalists reporting that Bournemouth were interested.

“Well, get Bournemouth back on the phone and ask if they want him on loan from January. That would be the best thing for him.

“His value is low at the moment because he isn’t playing but with a Premier League loan under his belt, his value would substantially rise.

“We have to think about that though because he would need to be replaced.”

Tanganga was ruled out for the remainder of the 2021-22 season in mid-March after undergoing surgery on his right knee.

This came after he made 11 appearances under Antonio Conte, following his arrival at Tottenham in November.
