Football Insider verdict:
Spurs are eyeing a player that is highly rated in his homeland and clearly is destined for a move to Europe, with the usual suspects Barcelona and Bayern in the race. Spanish giants Barcelona have a strong link of picking up South American youngsters, with Lionel Messi the obvious example. However, Spurs could be a strong appeal for most young players nowadays and the offer of Premier League football is an exciting prospect. Ardaiz is a centre forward, a position that Pochettino is desperate to improve on in the summer. The 18-year-old is highly unlikely to make an instant impact on the first-team, but the north London club are keen to develop young stars. Harry Winks is the latest academy graduate to make the grade in the senior set-up and star striker Harry Kane is the perfect role model for Spurs youngsters. The attention surrounding Ardaiz suggests he is an exciting talent, so it might be worth Pochettino investing in a potential future star.
