Tottenham fans all say the same as Ange Postecoglou shares Son Heung-min update

Tottenham supporters have chosen to take a positive spin after Ange Postecoglou issued an update on club captain Son Heung-min.

The Lilywhites are preparing to welcome Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt to North London on Thursday, 1 May, hoping to get back to winning ways in the Europa League after being thrashed 5-1 by Liverpool.

Despite the form of Postecoglou’s side, sitting 16th in the Premier League table, they are just two matches away from the Europa League final, with either Athletic Bilbao or Man United waiting for them.

However, following the manager’s latest injury update, Spurs will have to take on Bodo/Glimt in the first leg without Son, who has missed the last four matches with a foot injury.

Son Heung-min sidelined for Tottenham’s Europa League clash

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, Postecoglou confirmed that Son will not play a part in the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he continues training away from the group.

Despite notching 11 goals and 11 assists across all competitions this season, Tottenham supporters have been highly critical of Son, so much so that many are happy to hear the news of his absence.

Fans are already predicting who could start in his place, with some suggesting that Bayern Munich loanee Mathys Tel should have been given the nod, even if the captain was fit.

Tottenham supporters happy with latest injury update ahead of Bodo/Glimt

The South Korean has produced more goal contributions than anyone else in the Spurs squad this season, but with just one goal and three assists in his last 12 outings, fans are frustrated with him.

He often goes missing at the most important of times of late, and with Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham likely resting on winning the Europa League, the Australian cannot afford to make any mistakes with his lineup.

Multiple supporters were relieved to see that Son would not be starting the clash, with one calling it “great news”, while another fan said that it was now time for the player to part ways with the club this summer.

It all seems like a very harsh reaction, especially given his loyalty to the Lilywhites over the years, but considering how frustrating the campaign has been, it is perhaps no surprise why fans are taking it out on an experienced figure.
