Worst display ever, 'Get rid' - Tottenham fans destroy outfield player day after Man Utd defeat
By Richard Parks
Tottenham fans are still criticising Ben Davies on Twitter 24 hours after their team’s shattering FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.
Davies played 68 minutes of the clash before he was withdrawn to make way for attacking midfielder Lucas Moura as his team’s formation was rejigged.
Jose Mourinho’s side came from a goal down at Spurs’ adopted Wembley home to inflict a painful 2-1 win on Mauricio Pochettino’s side in a thrilling cup semi-final on Saturday.
Dele Alli had put Tottenham ahead early on when he converted Christian Eriksen’s fizzed cross in what was a fair reflection of Tottenham’s early dominance.
But Alexis Sanchez equalised with a superb first-half header and Ander Herrera scored the winner with a driven finish to secure United a final berth at Wembley next month.

A section of Spurs fans have been extremely critical of Wales international Davies, who has been the regular left-back for most of the season, with comments including “not good enough” and that he epitomises “what is wrong with the club”.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
In all seriousness poch needs to get rid of distinctly average players (davies, sissoko, jansen, llorente, llamela) sort issues out with rose, toby and perhaps now moussa and get quality in (preferably a couple of leaders with top level experience).

We’ve taken a huge step back this year. The midfield up is the same but it’s our full backs that cost us. Last year they stretched the play and gave space for Eriksen and Alli in the middle. Trippier and Davies can’t offer that#Coys #THFC

Watching the highlights again, and has anyone ever had a worse game at left back than Ben Davies? #COYS

#THFC can only go so far without improving the bang average players we have in a nunber of positions. Davies, Trippier, Aurier, Llorente, Lamela, Dembele to name a few. Good players, but none are winners or elite players. Either invest, or we become a top 4 trophy hunter #COYS

Everybody gettin excited about Poch ‘someone else’ comments. Calm down. Natural for his disappointment to show in some self doubt. He will stay, end of. However he needs better tools than Davies, Trippier, Sissoko, higher quality required #COYS #THFC

Replacing Rose and Walker from last season with the willing but non threatening Davies & Trippier has made us slow and lethargic.
2 full backs;
1 mobile scoring centre forward
1 midfield lock picker#Coys

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. Trippier and Davies aren’t good enough! Playing high up the pitch and leaving Sanchez and Vertonghen isolated! Their end product is getting poorer and poorer by each game passsing. Remember when we had Walker and Rose! ???? #COYS
