Tottenham fans beg Postecoglou to start their ‘best player’ against Bournemouth
Tottenham fans have urged Ange Postecoglou to start Alejo Veliz in their next game against Bournemouth on Sunday in the wake of their humiliating defeat to Brighton.
Two late consolation goals did little to rectify their 4-2 thrashing on Thursday night with Jack Hinshelwood’s early strike, two penalties from Joao Pedro and a stunner from Pervis Estupinan sealing their fate by the 75th minute.
However, one of Spurs’ late strikes came from Veliz, who notched a well-taken strike just 11 minutes after being introduced as Brennan Johnson’s replacement.
His first-ever senior goal for Spurs did little more than help their goal difference, but his passion and elation were written across his face as he paced back ahead of the restart.
Since his reported £13million move from Rosario Central this summer, the Argentine has been starved of minutes and has seen just 34 minutes of Premier League action.
The 19-year-old has been given nothing more than brief cameos in the dying embers of games but in light of Tottenham’s struggles in front of goal at the Amex, fans have pleaded with the boss to give him more chances.
They have taken to social media and are insistent that the “talent” must be on the teamsheet when Tottenham face Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve.
