Tottenham fans call for prolific PL striker to sign in January
By Harvey Byrne
Tottenham fans have expressed their interest in bringing prolific striker Jermain Defoe back to the club.
Sky Sports reported on Wednesday that West Ham had asked Sunderland to name their price for the 34-year-old after having a £6million bid rejected.
It is well documented that the Black Cats owner Ellis Short is looking to sell the club, leaving David Moyes with little funds in the winter window.
The Hammers are looking to pounce on the bad situation and bring Defoe back to London while they themselves have problems upfront.
However, there have also been some claims that Spurs are weak upfront this season, which has brought some fans on social media to call for Defoe to return in a squad role.

The experienced striker won’t get in the line-up ahead of star Harry Kane, but many are keen to welcome him back to White Hart Lane.

Defoe has a prolific goal-scoring record in the Premier League with 155 goals in 451 encounters.
He has guaranteed goals wherever he’s gone and age still hasn’t caught up with him with 11 strikes in 20 encounters for the struggling Sunderland side this season.
He bagged 138 in 357 games at Tottenham and he could be a very good addition to help Spurs finish in the Champions League spots this season.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the career of this Spurs senior player looks to be coming to an end.
