Tottenham fans crushed as Van de Ven ‘out for two months’
Tottenham fans are worried Micky van de Ven may not return to action until the new year after picking up an injury in their 2-1 League Cup win over Man City on Wednesday (October 30).
The 23-year-old left the pitch in tears after just 14 minutes at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having suffered what appeared to be a serious hamstring injury.
Van de Ven clutched his hamstring after a fairly innocuous challenge on Man City winger Savinho before instructing the touchline that he could no longer continue.
The centre-back suffered a similar injury last season that saw him miss 12 games across all competitions for club and country.
Speaking after the game, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglu said, “Micky felt something in his hamstring. I haven’t got the full update on him but he definitely felt something and we’ll see how he is.”
Thankfully for Spurs they were still able to win without Van de Ven thanks to first-half goals from Timo Werner and Pape Sarr.
Micky van de Ven set for spell on Tottenham sidelines
Since joining the North London club from Wolfsburg in 2023, the Dutchman’s blistering pace has made him a key asset for Postecoglou, clocking the fastest speed of the 2023-24 season at 37.38 km/h against Brentford.
With Cristian Romero also coming off against Man City, Spurs fans took to X, formally known as Twitter, to voice their concerns about a potential injury crisis.
