Finance guru: ‘Tottenham fans will be delighted’ as ‘powerful’ Nasser Al-Khelaifi statement issued
Tottenham supporters will be “delighted” that someone with the stature of Nasser Al-Khelaifi is publicly opposing the Super League.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the ut the Paris Saint-Germain and European Club Association president’s recent remarks.
Spurs were one of six Premier League sides and nine in total to withdraw from the Super League last April, but the competition’s organisers are now ramping up their efforts to relaunch under a revised format.

Tottenham refused to clarify whether their stance towards the Super League had changed when asked by Football Insider in early November.
The European Court of Justice is currently deliberating whether to bar the creation of further continent-wide rebel leagues.
But as quoted by the Daily Mail on Wednesday (7 December), Al-Khelaifi insisted that the Super League is a “stupid plan” that will “never happen” regardless of the ECJ’s verdict.
He claims that the strength of feeling against the project among supporters is simply to strong.
That will be music to the ears of Spurs fans, suggests Plumley.
“He’s very well connected with the ECA and UEFA,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“It helps the cause. There is also a potential veto from the fans that we’ve heard talked about in the past.
“Tottenham supporters will be delighted to hear Al-Khelaifi come out and say things like this.

“But we have to caveat this by saying that you still can’t rule it out completely. You can never say never in football.
“Tottenham hasn’t nailed their colours to the mast, so it is a positive for fans to hear someone with such power come out and say these things.
