Tottenham fans fear ‘Wilson Odobert is out for the season’ as ‘devastating’ footage emerges
Wilson Odobert walking down the tunnel is the last thing Thomas Frank would have wanted to see at Tottenham.
After Tottenham lost 2-0 to Man United, the team were left 15th in the Premier League, with fears of being relegated to the Championship growing with each passing game in North London.
Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that Frank could be sacked by Tottenham should they lose to Newcastle United on Tuesday, 10 February, and that is exactly what has happened.
In the early stages, the Magpies were all over the home side, and things went from bad to worse for the Lilywhites when Odobert was forced off with an injury after just 35 minutes.
He was replaced by Mathys Tel, who has not started in four matches, while Odobert joined a whole host of players in the treatment room at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Thomas Frank confirms the worst about Wilson Odobert
Frank is already without Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, James Maddison, and Dejan Kulusevski, to name just a few, with yet another attacker sidelined.
Despite no update emerging on the player, supporters are already fearing the worst, with one predicting that Odobert has “done his ACL” after limping down the tunnel in North London.
Sadly, his replacement, Tel, did very little in the final third to help, leaving his manager, along with every single fan, frustrated about the team’s overall performance against the Magpies.
- @TheSpursExpress: “Wilson Odobert down with a serous looking injury. New signing, we tried to sign Semenyo, warming up, ready to come on.”
- @SebOnFootball: “Genuinely think Odobert’s just done his ACL. What is this luck? I’ve never seen the like.”
- @BrotherHeungMin: “Tommy Frank’s tactics just killed Odobert.”
Should Tottenham be concerned by Odobert’s injury history?
To put it bluntly, no, not really.
While the exciting winger missed a total of 37 matches during the 2024-25 campaign due to a hamstring issue, it was an ongoing issue that has seemingly disappeared.
Before coming to Spurs, he had very few issues to contend with during his time at Burnley or Troyes, and watching the footage back of his new injury, it is certainly something completely different this time.
Going flying after being pushed off the ball, his ankle appeared to roll. Only time will tell just how serious it is, but Odobert walking down the tunnel should have been a good sign for worried fans.
Frank is already without several attacking players, so this will only be a huge blow for the under-pressure manager, but it is unlikely to see him sidelined as long as many others at the club.
