Tottenham fans fume as footage of penalty claim v Arsenal emerges – ‘Robbery’
Tottenham fans have been left fuming after their calls for a penalty were denied by referee Jarred Gillet, despite new footage emerging on social media.
Ange Postecoglou’s side were left frustrated at home as their North London rivals secured a 1-0 win thanks to a header from Gabriel Magalhaes.
However, the game was not without its controversies, and Brennan Johnson’s calls for a penalty during the first half added to it as they fell on deaf ears.
The Welsh winger had ghosted to the back post where he aimed to meet a cross from Son Heung-min, but was impeded and bundled to the ground by Jurrien Timber.
Despite replays showing what had happened, his shouts for the Arsenal star to be penalised were ignored by both Gillet and VAR official Stuart Attwell.
During the game, an image of the incident was shared amongst Spurs fans depicting Timber grabbing hold of Johnson rugby-style, with his back to the ball.
As a result, many are insisting they should have been awarded a penalty which would have changed the complexion of the game.

As Postecoglou’s winless run in North London derbies was extended, many fans are pointing to the penalty incident as the turning point.
Taking to social media, where the image of the incident was shared, Tottenham fans are taking their anger out at the refereeing team, labelling the incident “daylight robbery”.
