Tottenham fans paid tribute to Danny Rose on Twitter after his eyecatching display in the team’s 3-0 Premier League win over Hull on Wednesday night.
A Christian Eriksen double and a late Victor Wanyama striker sealed the three points for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and cemented their position of fifth in the table.
The manager had sprung a tactical surprise by lining his side up in a new 3-5-2 formation with Rose and his full-back colleague Kyle Walker pushed forward into wing-back slots and Eric Dier dropping back into defence alongside Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
Rose responded by having a major influence on the match with his lung-busting forward runs and set up Eriksen for one of his two goals.
Tottenham fans were thrilled with the performance of academy graduate Rose as their team got back to winning ways following defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Three at the back last night worked. Although hull didn’t offer much, walker and rose gettin forward more than usual made us dangerous #coys

Eriksen will get the MOTM vote but he wasn’t our best player tonight. Rose was immense and Vertonghen majestic. Both outstanding. #COYS

It was only the third time in his two-and-a-half year tenure that Pochettino had started with three at the back and, for the third time, it led to an impressive result.
Last season Tottenham won 2-1 at Watford with a back three and earlier this season they drew 1-1 at Arsenal.
Spurs have now accumulated 30 points from their 16 Premier League matches this season but they are three behind Manchester City in fourth and 10 adrift of leaders Chelsea.
In other Tottenham news, this is why Spurs must make a January swoop for the final player recommended by Paul Mitchell.
