Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to lay into Ben Davies for his performance in their team’s 1-1 Premier League draw against Brighton on Tuesday night.
The left-back kept his place in a much-changed line-up as manager Mauricio Pochettino made six changes from the side that lost 3-1 to Manchester City last weekend.
But it failed to pay dividends as Spurs delivered a limp performance that was well below the standards they have set in recent seasons.
Harry Kane put Spurs ahead with his 26th league goal of the season, following Gaetan Bong’s error, to put his side in sight of an 11th away win.
But Brighton were behind for just two minutes, Pascal Gross levelling with an excellent penalty after Serge Aurier had caught Jose Izquierdo.
Regular left-back Davies looked tired and below his best as he was selected with deputy Danny Rose injured once again.
A section of supporters took to social media to deliver strident criticisms of the Wales international, with one claiming he was “gash” and others insisting he should be sold this summer.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Sissoko (goes without mention)
Pathetic players that need to be replaced in the summer.

We missed Rose at left-back. Davies looked tired. Worrying signs ahead of Saturday! #COYS

Son’s movement down the left is making so much room for him and Davies… just need Davies to get a decent cross in! #COYS

Aurier actually got involved and had a good game. Davies has been poor in that he can’t pass and is not involved. Trippier is Davies with an occasional cross.
