Tottenham fans have turned to social media to rage over the first half performance of right back Kieran Trippier in the club’s clash at Swansea City on Tuesday.
Spurs went into half time at the Liberty Stadium 1-0 up thanks to Fernando Llorente’s early header, the former Swansea forward netting his first top flight goal for Spurs in what is his first Premier League start for the club.
In a game filled with errors as a result of a pitch affected by the heavy rain in Wales, fans were less than impressed with what they saw from right back Trippier, with his passes getting bogged down on the damp turf and his usual attacking threat down the right flank nullified.
The Tottenham faithful took to Twitter to voice their frustrations with the 27-year-old, who took the place of Serge Aurier in the starting XI.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:
Trippier has passed backwards every single time so far. He’s gotta be more confident and get back to flying down the wing and crossing the ball

Cannot stand trippier
He refuses to take on his man
Passes the ball back and then points forwards
Lad here's an idea you pass the round thing forward

It's like Trippier never wants the ball… Gets it then passes it sideways or backwards immediately.

Trippier and Davies have been awful

Trippier constantly giving the ball away so needlessly though. Really simple passes as well.

Davies and trippier provide no threat and are weak defensively

Is Trippier some kind of idiot?

Trippier has found himself regularly rotated in and out of the first team set up by manager Mauricio Pochettino, with summer signing Aurier the other first choice at right back.
As a result the former Burnley man has made 17 appearances across all competitions, although was on the bench for the previous two league matches.
