Tottenham fans react to Aurier display for Ivory Coast v Gabon in World Cup qualifier
By Harry Sykes
Tottenham’s new signing Serge Aurier played the full 90 minutes of Ivory Coast’s 3-0 World Cup qualifier win against Gabon on Saturday evening – and Spurs fans on Twitter were impressed with what they saw.
The 24-year-old completed a £23million transfer to Spurs on deadline day on Thursday from Paris Saint-German after being granted a UK work permit and visa.
His arrival split the White Hart Lane fanbase through the middle due to his history of controversies and flare-ups.
Tottenham fans were given an early look at their new signing as he started in his natural right-back position on Saturday evening as Ivory Coast moved to the top of their qualifying Group C.
A Max Gradel strike alongside two Seydou Doumbia’s efforts secured a comprehensive win in Libreville for the Elephants.
