Tottenham fans destroy 24-year-old on Twitter after display v Crystal Palace

Tottenham fans have waded into defender Ben Davies on Twitter after the left-back failed to impress during Wednesday night’s victory over Crystal Palace.
Spurs secured a late 1-0 win at Selhurst Park thanks to a long-range effort from Christian Eriksen that flew past goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey in the 78th minute.
But Hennessey’s Wales teammate Davies struggled to have an effect all night, with his crossing in attacking areas failing to beat the first man on multiple occasions.
Davies was given a chance from the off after being demoted to the bench on Saturday in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea, as he continues to deputise for the injured Danny Rose.
The narrow win sees Spurs reduce the gap between themselves and league leaders Chelsea to four points, after Antonio Conte’s side beat Southampton 4-2 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to his performance in frustration, as he failed to provide any kind of positive impact during the narrow win.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
One day Ben Davies is going to make MOTD highlights by actually going past someone rather than pass it side or backwards #coys

Davies in all sorts of trouble down his left-hand side. Zaha will beat him every time. Power and pace of their front 3 a BIG problem. #COYS

Davies has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season for the north London giants, being given an extended run in the side because of Rose’s continued injury problems.
It remains to be seen if he will start against north London rivals Arsenal on Sunday, with Rose said to be in line for a return against Arsene Wenger’s side.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs have cancelled the contract of this defender.
