Lamela has been in bright form so far this season so the news of his injury has come as a huge disappointment for fans.
Spurs take on Leverkusen in a crucial Champions League encounter before they travel to the Emirates to face rivals, Arsenal.
The 24-year-old is unlikely to feature in Europe but it is still unclear whether or not he will be able to recover in time to face Arsenal this weekend.
Lamela has started six league games this season, making 14 appearances in total and has scored two goals and grabbed three assists.
The Argentine has played well alongside Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli and has created chances in the absence of Harry Kane.
His exclusion from Wednesday evening’s team will be a loss as he would have hoped to have started following his impressive European displays against Leverkusen and CSKA Moscow.

No Kane, Alderweireld or Lamela tomorrow night then. On the plus side, Sissoko can feature 🙄 #thfc
