Inter Millan are reportedly working on a deal to sign Tottenham attacking midfielder Erik Lamela this summer – and Spurs fans have delivered mixed verdicts on Twitter.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport claim that Serie A big hitters are keen to take advantage of the Argentina international’s contract situation as they look to bring in a left-footed wide man in the forthcoming window.
It is said that Inter, who are fifth in the Italian league, are in preliminary talks with representatives of Lamela, who is a favourite of the club’s sporting director Walter Sabbatini.
Inter are keen to take advantage of the contract situation of Lamela, whose current £65,000-a-week deal is due to expire in the summer of 2019.
The 26-year-old returned in October after a year on the sidelines in which he underwent double hip surgery and has gradually been re-integrated back into Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
He was given the nod to start in Tuesday’s 2-2 Champions League thriller against Juventus last month but could miss out to Son Heung-Min for the second leg on Wednesday night.
A section of Spurs fans on social media have called on the club to cash in on Lamela, especially if there is the opportunity of a swap deal with one of Inter’s star men.
Others have insisted that that the Argentine is “not for sale” and that the Italian club must “keep their filthy hands off him”.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

I hope it doesn’t happen. He has looked pretty decent for us since returning. Imagine what he would be like with a full pre season training under his belt. #COYS

The answer should be a firm and unwavering “Lamela is not for sale”.
