Erik Lamela wants to quit Tottenham – and fans on Twitter have stated that they would be happy to see the midfield ace leave.
Football site Squawka claim that the 24-year-old is “homesick” and “unsettled in London” and pining for a move back to his former club Roma.
It is said that Lamela is increasingly expected to leave Spurs in the next transfer window and that the Serie A club would be keen to sign the Argentine.
Fans on social media were pretty clear that they would be happy to see their player leave the north London club.
Lamela has barely featured this season as he is still recovering from a hip injury with his last appearance coming in October against Bournemouth.
One fan stated that he would be more than happy to drop Lamela off at the airport as possible return to Italy is on the cards.
While another supporter felt that the versatile midfielder leaving Spurs would leave the club in a better position.
However, one fan did back the Argentina international by saying he is a big fan of the player but his only problem during his time in the Premier League has been his lack of goals.
Lamela moved to Tottenham from Roma during the summer of 2013 for a fee of £30million and one supporter was adamant that chairman Daniel Levy should not sell the player for less than £25million.
Overall, the majority of the White Hart Lane faithful were not too fussed that one of their midfielders wants to leave the club.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
I will kindly offer to drop Lamela off to the nearest airport if he wants to go . So overrated !!

Always been a fan of lamela, the only thing he lacks is goals. I was hoping that would come with time, doesn't look like it now https://t.co/WdOr4tazJy

Straight swap with Roma?
You take Fazio off our hands and we'll give you Lamela?

Hope Lamela doesn't want to leave but IF we do sell I doubt it will be this window unless we find a replacement.

This season, Lamela has played 14 games in all competitions, scoring two goals and supplying seven assists for his side.
One of those goals and three of those assists came against Gillingham during the EFL Cup earlier on in the campaign.
In other Tottenham transfer news, the club is close to sealing a £2.8million transfer of this 29-year-old.
