Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Dembele omission v West Ham

By Dominic Toner

Mousa Dembele has been named on Tottenham bench against West Ham – and the club’s supporters gave mixed responses on social media to the decision.

The 29-year-old is being eased back into action following a slight ankle injury and is included with the substitutes for a second consecutive game.

Mauricio Pochettino has decided to make just one change to his side from the team that beat Arsenal 2-0, as Kyle Walker comes in for Kieran Trippier at right-back.

Dembele featured as a second-half substitute against Arsenal and may play a similar role on Friday night.

Spurs travel to the London Stadium for a crucial Premier League game against West Ham and will move just a point behind leaders Chelsea with a win.

Spurs fans mainly agree that Dembele should have been included in the starting line-up against the Hammers, but recognised the strength in their squad at Pochettino’s disposal.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Dembele has been a crucial player for Spurs this season and been a regular member of the club’s midfielder.

The box-to-box midfielder is well recognised for his physical strength and he has formed a solid partnership alongside teammate Victor Wanyama.

However, Eric Dier will play next to Wanyama against West Ham and will be looking to dminate the centre of the park.
