Tottenham have been linked with interest in Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala – and Spurs fans are not too impressed.

ESPN have claimed that the north London club will deliberate whether to make a move for the 25-year-old centre-back before next Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

It is believed that if Tottenham can agree a deal for the France international, they will listen to offers for Kevin Wimmer, who signed a new contract just last month.

Mangala has played in 64 encounters during his two-year stay for the club, but he is now believed to be surplus to requirements after being left out of Pep Guardiola’s first four matches in charge.

The north London club already have Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld covering the Spurs first team centre-back spots and supporters believe that Mangala isn’t good enough to play back-up to them.

Meanwhile, some Tottenham supporters are simply dismissing the report.

Here are a selection of their views on Twitter:

The eight-time capped France international centre-back still has three-years left on his contract.

The report states that it is unsure whether the deal would be a permanent or loan move, and that Manchester City may not agree to a deal with their Premier League rivals, with Mangala also linked in a loan move to Napoli.

Mauricio Pochettino could be looking to add some vital Champions League experience as he leads his side into Europe’s elite competition in the new campaign.

In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs have agreed a fee with Hull for midfielder Ryan Mason.
