‘Great news’, Swap him for Dele – Tottenham fans react as agent alive to sensational transfer reportedly
By Richard Parks
Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react positively to a report that their club is firmly in the running to re-sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid in what would be a sensational summer deal.
Spanish newspaper El Confidencial claim Spurs “remain keen” on bringing Bale back to White Hart Lane and that his agent Jonathan Barnett “is alive” to their interest.
It is said that Barnett is aware that Tottenham and Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Bale after he was placed on the transfer market by the Spanish giants.
Bale’s future is up in the air following a series of injuries and he has cut a frustrated figure in recent months under manager Zinedine Zidane.
Spurs fans are keen to re-sign one of the club’s best-ever players five years after he left for £86million, with one claiming it would be “great news” and another stating he would be willing to swap Dele Alli in exchange for the Wales international.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Bale has failed to make the starting XI for Real last three Champions League matches, including the 3-0 win over Juventus last Wednesday, but has started six of the club’s last seven La Liga fixtures.
He has scored 14 goals and supplied eight assists from 31 matches in all competitions for the Spanish giants this season.
