'Get him home' - Tottenham fans react to Dele Alli's Twitter post after England win

Tottenham fans on Twitter urged Dele Alli to bring Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe “back home” to White Hart Lane after he scored for England during their 2-0 win against Lithuania on Sunday night.

Gareth Southgate’s side secured a vital three points against the international minnows at Wembley with former Spurs man Defoe and Jamie Vardy getting on the scoresheet.

After the match, Alli hailed the win and sent particular congratulations to his Three Lions teammate Defoe on his personal Twitter account.

Spurs supporters reacted to Alli’s Twitter post and urged the player to help bring the ex-Spurs striker back to White Hart Lane.

Defoe has scored an impressive 14 goals for the Black Cats during this campaign, despite the north east club struggling at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Both Alli and Defoe were on the field together for the first time in their careers when they helped England to the win.

One fan stated that Alli should be playing with the proven goalscorer week in, week out as he lamented the decision his club made to sell Defoe in 2014.

Furthermore, others supporters hailed Alli for his display, adding on to his man of the match performance during the 1-0 defeat at Germany in midweek.

Overall, fans were pleased that Alli could return to White Hart Lane with a win for his country and others were stating that he should be playing with Defoe regularly.
