'Please stay', 'He's off' - Tottenham fans in despair at Tuesday tweet of in-form player

By Richard Parks

Tottenham striker Reo Griffiths has revealed on Twitter that he is “off to Germany” – and Spurs fans have expressed their despair in response.

The forward, 17, is out of contract in the summer and set tongues wagging among Spurs fans on Tuesday morning after posting the message on his personal Twitter account accompanied by a Germany flag and ‘okay’ sign.

It comes after widespread reports, including by ESPN FC, that Griffiths is being tracked by a number of top clubs across Europe, most notably RB Leipzig, whose head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell, formerly held that role at Tottenham.

Griffiths has been in red hot form this season, scoring a remarkable 34 goals for Spurs’ youth sides, including four in the Under-18s’ recent 9-0 demolition of Arsenal.

The teenager could be teasing, or may be off for a holiday or youth tournament, but his future is a subject that Tottenham top brass need to address.
