Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to urge their club to sign Max Meyer this summer after Schalke confirmed he will be leaving them in June.
The 22-year-old Germany international will be a free agent this summer, and news of his availability will have Europe’s elite clubs on high alert.
Tottenham have been strongly linked with Meyer in recent years, with Football London reporting that “everything about him screams Tottenham transfer” given his age, talent and availability within just weeks.
The official Schalke Twitter page reported news of the player’s impending exit on Thursday morning.

Meyer is a highly rated player but there is a sense he has not kicked on since he was earmarked as one of the outstanding young players in the Bundesliga a few years ago.
He has perhaps suffered from a series of positional changes, as the dazzling wide man who scored five league goals and supplied eight assists in 2015-16 has played predominantly in central midfield this season.
Nevertheless, Spurs fans are excited at the possibility of signing him and urged the club to get a deal done.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Poch get Max Meyer in.
