Tottenham fans react on Twitter as Alderweireld returns against Watford

By Will Butcher

Toby Alderweireld has returned to Tottenham’s starting line up to face Watford after recovering from a virus – and fans are delighted on Twitter.

The 27-year-old has been sidelined after missing Premier League outings against Burnley and Southampton, which has seen him replaced by England international Eric Dier.

However, Belgium international Alderweireld has been thrown back into the starting line up by Mauricio Pochettino, after Spurs announced the team on their official Twitter account.

Alderweireld has been in superb form for the north London giants this season, playing a crucial part at the heart of the defence. During his 13 league and cup outings, Spurs have kept six clean sheets.

Tottenham fans are relieved to see Alderweireld’s name back in the side, as they look to secure their 11th Premier League win of the season and move as high as third in the table.

Former Southampton ace Alderweireld, who was named in Robbie Savage’s Premier League team of the year after a wonderful 2016 at White Hart Lane, will be looking to plug the leak at the back.

Spurs have produced just one clean sheet in their last five league and cup encounters and will be hoping to nullify Walter Mazzarri’s side.
