Lukasz Fabianski played the role of both the hero and the villain for Swansea in their defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday – and Tottenham fans on Twitter were furious, and then delighted, with his antics.

The Swansea stopper looked to have secured a priceless win for the home side with a series of superb saves to retain their one-goal lead, only for a late Tottenham surge to snatch three points from their grasp.

Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen each found the back of the net for Tottenham within the last eight minutes of the tie to earn a dramatic late 3-1 victory for their side.

But Fabianski was also at fault for the thrilling late comeback, having handed Tottenham a large chunk of added-time through time-wasting.

The former Arsenal stopper feigned an injury only to emerge completely unscathed, but the referee added seven minutes of added time to proceedings for his antics, which ultimately cost Swansea.

Tottenham fans were at first furious for his blatant time-wasting, but then changed their tone to laugh at his expense following the late turnaround.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Swansea feared losing their No.1 stopper to injury following a superb save to deny Vincent Janssen.

The Swans medical team even called for a stretcher and for substitute Kristoffer Nordfeldt to get himself ready, only for Fabianski to get up and continue playing.

However, after showing few signs of injury, fans were quick to berate the stopper for time-wasting, but it ultimately saw his side drop back into the Premier League’s bottom three.
