'Absolutely crazy' - Tottenham fans react on Twitter as duo are nominated for YPOTY award

By Will Butcher

Dele Alli and Harry Kane have both been nominated for the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year award for their 2016-17 form – but fans are not happy on Twitter.

Kane, 23, was nominated for Players’ Player as well as the Young Player award, but 20-year-old playmaker Alli was only nominated in the latter despite his sublime form.

The duo have been nominated alongside Romelu Lukaku, Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Leroy Sane, while Kane goes up against Alexis Sanchez, Eden Hazard, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, N’Golo Kante and Lukaku.

Sky Sports revealed the news on their official Twitter account.

Spurs fans took to Twitter after hearing of the news, with most fans delighted to see both Alli and Kane recognised for their superb work in the final third this season.

However, some fans of the north London giants were not as impressed, as they feel Alli’s 19 goals and 10 assists this season warranted a place among the Premier League’s best.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The duo are expected to feature against Bournemouth on Saturday, as Pochettino looks for his side to close the gap between themselves and Chelsea to just four points.

Spurs’ attention will then be switched to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, as league leaders Chelsea travel to face Man United.
