Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Lamela performance against Liverpool
By Dominic Toner
Tottenham fans were critical of Erik Lamela for his performance in the 1-1 against Liverpool on Saturday.
The midfielder conceded a penalty in the first-half after tripping Roberto Firmino in the box, which allowed James Milner to give Liverpool the lead at White Hart Lane.
Lamela, 24, did redeem himself in the second-half after flicking on a Eric Dier cross into the path of defender Danny Rose, who rescued a point for Spurs by smashing the ball into the net.
The Premier League fixture finished level and the result leaves Spurs with five points from their opening three games, meaning they have some work to do to catch the early pacesetters.
Spurs supporters expressed their disappointment on Twitter of Lamela’s display.

I hate the term “fraud” but if there ever was a player who justifiably fitted that description it’s Erik Lamela.

I don’t know if there’s such a thing as “deceptively slow” but Erik Lamela is it.

Erik Lamela is quickly becoming my favorite player. The guy is class on the ball and works so hard off it

Lamela produced a man of the match performance on Spurs’ opening league game of the season, scoring an equalising goal in a 1-1 draw with Everton.
He struggled in his first 18 months at White Hart Lane but he has prospered under the tutelage of his fellow Argentine Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentina international scored 10 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions last season and there is a growing sense there is much more to come from him.
