Tottenham fans react on Twitter to speculation January transfer is all but done
By Harry Sykes
Tottenham fans have reacted with delight to the possibility of their club getting £8million from Swansea for fringe player Tom Carroll.
The Telegraph claim that Premier League strugglers Swansea are “certain” to sign the midfielder this month despite doubts over their top-flight status.
The Welsh side have been linked for much of the season with permanently signing a player who had a successful loan spell at the Liberty Stadium in the 2014-15 campaign.
It now appears that the deal is all but done for Carroll to end his lengthy association with the north London club.
The White Hart Lane academy graduate has made 56 senior appearances in total for Tottenham but just three this season after slipping further down the pecking order.

Spurs fans paid tribute to the negotiating skills of chairman Daniel Levy for managing to prise £8million out of a rival club for someone who is nowhere near Mauricio Pochettino’s first team.

It’s for the best that Tom Carroll moves on but very disloyal & unfair IMO to get the amount of stick that he’s getting from our fans #coys

Carroll, 24, could be the first senior Tottenham player to depart during the January window.
Manager Pochettino has said he does not expect many signings although he explained that the title challengers are in the market for someone “special”.
