Tottenham fans react on Twitter to stunning Eriksen display for Denmark
By Tony Hughes
Christian Eriksen scored a brilliant solo goal for Denmark against Kazakhstan on Friday night – and Tottenham fans urged him to replicate that form for his club.
The midfielder had already slotted home a 36th-minute penalty in the World Cup Qualifier in Copenhagen, but he sealed a 4-1 victory with a superb strike in added time.
Eriksen collected the ball inside the centre circle and, instead of passing to team-mates positioned ahead of him, he opted to run at the Kazakh defence.
The playmaker showed tremendous skill to dart between a couple of defenders before finishing past goalkeeper Stas Pokatilov.
Spurs fans were impressed with the performance of Eriksen, who has had a slow start to the domestic season, and are hoping he can be as effective when he returns to White Hart Lane.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Denmark are now third in the Group E table on six points, four behind leaders Poland and one behind second-placed Montenegro, while Kazakhstan are bottom on two points.
In other Tottenham news, Rodney Marsh has named this Spurs player as his man-of-the-match in England’s 3-0 win over Scotland on Friday night.
