Tottenham fans say the same thing about Thomas Frank joining – ‘he’s accepted the job’

Thomas Frank has emerged as a major contender to succeed Ange Postecoglou when he’s shown the door by Tottenham Hotspur.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday (1 June) that Tottenham have decided to sack Postecoglou after months of indecision, with their Europa League final win not being enough to save the Australian’s job.

Postecoglou’s future has been shrouded in uncertainty throughout the season, but after Football Insider reported on 23 May that Tottenham were “50/50” over the decision to sack him, the axe is now set to fall.

Spurs’ search for a new manager has seen Andoni IraolaMarco Silva and Thomas Frank‘s names all crop up in the shortlist of potential Postecoglou successors, and one of those could now be close to a move.

Thomas Frank a front-runner for Tottenham role

Tottenham have made their admiration for Iraola, Silva and Frank no secret in recent times, and Football Insider revealed in April that Daniel Levy was willing to trigger the latter’s release clause at Brentford.

Spurs are now ready to make good on their interest in Frank over the likes of Silva, Iraola and Inter’s Simone Inzaghi, with the latter’s future uncertain after their 5-0 Champions League final defeat by PSG.

Former Man United scout Mick Brown also told Football Insider in April that Tottenham would aim to hire a “bigger name” than Frank, but Levy is ready to step up Spurs’ pursuit of the Dane after another impressive Brentford season.

Tottenham doubts linger with Frank appointment ‘close’

Although many Spurs fans were split on Postecoglou’s position after of their Europa League success, the news that Tottenham are ready to sack the Australian has quickly led to widespread acceptance.

With Frank now seen as a front-runner alongside Inzaghi for the pending vacancy in North London, Spurs supporters agreed that his rock-solid track record in the Premier League is a “massive feature needed”.

Furthermore, with Tottenham in need of a “change of culture”, fans argued that Frank could be an ideal figurehead to lead this shift, although doubts emerged over the prospect of his long-term success.

Frank has lifted Brentford from mid-table in the Championship to Premier League mainstays since he took charge in 2018, but a lack of silverware or European qualification could be marks against him.
