'WTF?', 'Please God, no', 'Dark times' - Tottenham fans react to latest strong transfer link
By Richard Parks
Tottenham are reportedly lining up a summer move for West Brom defender Jonny Evans – and the club’s supporters on Twitter are furious at the prospect.
The Telegraph claim that Spurs are one of the teams considering activating a £3million release clause in Evans’ deal, which will become active if West Brom are relegated from the top flight.
The Baggies are currently 10 points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League and are heading towards the Championship following a wretched campaign.
The Telegraph report that Tottenham consider Evans, 30, an “attractive proposition” as a potential replacement for Toby Alderweireld, whose future is shrouded in doubt after he broke off contract talks with the club.
The Northern Ireland international has a solid track record at West Brom and former club Manchester United, making 232 appearances in the Premier League during his career.

However, Tottenham fans are far from convinced by the centre-back and want their club to steer clear of him and concentrate on agreeing terms with Alderweireld.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
I literally give up on Spurs if this deal happens….B a huge step back towards the dark times

Let me just get this clear.
We are not giving Alderweireld a new contract, and we’re lining up Evans as an replacement. What sort of joke is this @TeleFootball? #COYS https://t.co/xG2ydCb0wW— Harry Hotspur (@HarryHotspurWHL) March 22, 2018
