'Trash', 'Waste of space', 'Get rid' - Tottenham fans slam one player in win v Leicester

Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to slam Erik Lamela for his performance in the thrilling 5-4 win against Leicester at Wembley on Sunday – even though he managed to get himself on the scoresheet twice in the second half.

Lamela, 26, has not been in the best of form for Tottenham this season ever since he returned from over a year on the sidelines with a serious hip injury.

Mauricio Pochettino has remained loyal to his fellow Argentine, however it seems that fans are really losing their patience with the Spurs manager’s insistence on playing the attacker, even though he could have got a hat-trick if one of his strikes didn’t go down as a Christian Fuchs own goal.

Spurs fans were raging with Lamela’s performance in the Premier League finale on Sunday, especially when his lapse of concentration in the opening minute allowed Jamie Vardy to put Leicester ahead.

One angry member of the Wembley support claimed that Lamela was a “waste of space” during the win over Leicester.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Lamela has made 33 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham this season, scoring three goals and supplying six assists in the process.

It now remains to be seen what will happen to the former Roma star in the summer, but given Pochettino’s favouritism towards his fellow countryman, it’s more than likely that he will still be at the club for the start of next season.

In other Tottenham news, this £30million-rated jet-heeled attacker would be a stunning addition at Spurs’ new stadium for next season.
