Tottenham fans were left in awe of Djed Spence after his performance in their Premier League victory against Man United.
Ange Postecoglou’s side picked up a crucial 1-0 win at home thanks to James Maddison’s strike 13 minutes into his return to the starting XI.
Alongside Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Destiny Udogie all returned to the squad, with the former three all handed minutes.
However, of all the big names returning to the pitch, it was one who has stepped up in the absence of those stars in recent weeks who has received the most praise.
Spence, 24, dropped in at left-back once again for Postecoglou and turned in a performance of the highest calibre, earning the Player of the Match award.
He won six of his seven ground duels, completed one key pass and two dribbles, won two fouls and two tackles, and made two blocks and one clearance to keep a clean sheet. [Sofascore]
This has added to an incredibly consistent run of form which has quickly made him a fans’ favourite at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

At the beginning of the season, Spence had been cast aside from Postecoglou’s squad and it was widely expected he would leave the club for good.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Genoa after a difficult spell at Leeds, and didn’t make his first league start this season until matchday 16 against Southampton.
Since then, however, he has been a regular fixture in the side and has started nine of the 11 league games since his return to the starting XI.

Spence’s work ethic to get himself back involved in first-team action and prove that he could be the right man for Postecoglou have earned him high praise from the stands.
Such has been the turnaround in his performances and admiration at Tottenham that some fans are now suggesting he could feature in the England squad.
Taking to social media following the 1-0 win against Man United, supporters were full of praise for another impressive display as they labelled him “incredible” and “unbelievable”.
