'Get rid', 'Giving me heart attacks' - Tottenham fans destroy senior player after Stoke display

By Richard Parks

Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to tear into Hugo Lloris for his performance in their team’s 2-1 Premier League win at Stoke City on Saturday.

Lloris made yet another significant mistake at the Bet365 Stadium, a week after gifting Chelsea their opener in Spurs’ 3-1 triumph at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs were not at their best, but continued their unbeaten league run in 2018 by edging past a Stoke side staring relegation in the face courtesy of a quick-fire brace from in-form playmaker Christian Eriksen.

However, goalkeeper Lloris gifted Paul Lambert’s side their equaliser when his attempted clearance ricocheted right into the path of Mame Biram Diouf, who tapped into an empty net.

Lloris’ error did not prove decisive, but he has been guilty of several mistakes this season that have led directly to goals.

A section of Spurs fans have started to turn on the long-serving goalkeeper, 31, and made plain their feelings on social media in the immediate aftermath of the match.

Some urged the club to “get rid” and “sell him” in the summer and bring in a more reliable shot-stopper.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

In other Tottenham transfer news, the club are working on a deal to sign a 29-year-old left footer who would be a sensational signing.
