Tottenham fans urge Pochettino to recall 22-year-old against Watford

By Amir Mir

Tottenham will host Watford in a crucial Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon – and fans on Twitter have urged Mauricio Pochettino to start Vincent Janssen.

The 22-year-old has had a poor campaign, but he came to life during his side’s remarkable 3-1 win at Swansea on Tuesday night.

Pochettino opted to bring the Dutchman off the bench late in the second half with his side losing the match 1-0.

Janssen’s hold up play helped his team produce a magnificent comeback as they scored three goals in the last six minutes to win the match.

Attacking midfielder Dele Alli began the fightback with a simple tap in after 88 minutes before Janssen set-up Son in stoppage time to score the second before Christian Eriksen’s curling effort sealed the points.

As a result, fans want the rejuvenated player to start their weekend clash against the Hornets as Spurs will be looking to close the seven-point gap on leaders Chelsea in the table.

One supporter stated that Janssen deserves to start the match, while others backed the Dutchman to start alongside Son.

Overall, the White Hart Lane faithful want to see Janssen rewarded for his display in midweek by Pochettino giving him a rare start on Saturday.

Over the course of the season, Janssen has struggled for goal, game time and consistency since his big-money move in the summer.

He has played 33 matches in all competitions, scoring five goals and supplying four assists for the north London club.

However, he has started just seven out of 22 Premier League matches throughout the campaign with injured striker Harry Kane preferred up front.
