Tottenham fans will absolutely love what Ivan Toney once said about Arsenal, Mikel Arteta will fear his return
Tottenham supporters do not need another reason to want Ivan Toney’s signature in January, but this is certainly one more.
Thomas Frank is already without Dominic Solanke, who has been sidelined since August, joining the likes of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Ben Davies on the treatment table.
After suffering a concussion, Lucas Bergvall has also suffered a setback, with Tottenham now without Randal Kolo Muani after appearing to break his jaw during the 2-2 draw with Man United.
Even before his new injury, the loanee striker had failed to impress in North London, managing just 191 minutes without any goal contributions, so a new signing appears the best solution.

Thomas Frank is in desperate need for a new striker at Tottenham
Mick Brown has revealed to Football Insider that Tottenham could accelerate a move for Toney after yet another serious injury for the Lilywhites, and that would be totally understandable.
In just one-and-a-half seasons in Saudi Arabia, the 29-year-old centre-forward already has 41 goals and seven assists in 59 games, but a return to the Premier League is likely always on the cards for a player of his calibre.
Football Insider understands that, if Frank were to launch a move for the England international, Tottenham would need to break the bank for Toney’s signature due to his wages in the Saudi Pro League.

That is likely to be the same for any striker targets actually capable of being Spurs’ number-one choice, but his previous digs at Arsenal give him a special advantage over any others, at least in the supporters’ minds.
Ivan Toney has had previous drama with Arsenal
Back in 2021, under the leadership of Frank, Toney played a crucial role in Brentford‘s surprise Premier League win over the Gunners, claiming a 2-0 result on the opening day of the season.
Following the game, the 29-year-old took to social media with a clear dig at the Londoners, writing: “Nice kick around with the boys,” and one that triggered those at the Emirates Stadium.
Shown during an Arsenal documentary, Mikel Arteta used the tweet to fire up his squad, and while it certainly worked, coming up against the striker again after all these years would make for good viewing.
He even called Gabriel Magalhaes out as “cringey” after the defender copied his tweet after a later win for the Gunners. So, with a history between the two parties, I’m sure Spurs fans would love Toney to sign across the dotted line in January.
