Many Tottenham fans watching their team overcome the deficiencies and distractions of VAR while annihilating Rochdale last night (Wednesday) would have been forgiven for thinking, ‘what’s eating Harry’?
Winks, that is, not goal king Kane, who never seems to take a backward step.
The talisman’s fellow Harry and academy product was being hailed as the future of English football just a few months ago after giving Luka Modric and Toni Kroos the runaround in the Bernabeu.
But he just did not seem right against Rochdale and that has been the case for some time, now.
Winks, 22, was sidelined with an ankle injury in January and the difference between his form post and pre breakdown are stark.

Where once he was the epitome of composure in the midfield maelstrom, receiving the ball and passing it on neatly to teammates before the opposition could get a tackle in, now he looks off the pace, scared even.
Is there a physical issue holding back the maestro? Or, has a previous physical problem ballooned into a mental issue?
Maybe it’s just the growing pains that go with being a gifted young player who is in the limelight and where expectations are to deliver all the time.
Whatever the problem, Spurs’ fans should be worried about the youngster they were all raving about a few months ago.
There is no way he deserves to be in the team on current form.
