Tottenham have Heung-min Son ‘problem’ as footage emerges – ‘nobody wants to be tagged…’ says expert
Alan Hutton has suggested Heung-min Son will be worried about being branded a “super sub” at Tottenham.
But, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back doesn’t think Antonio Conte will continue using Son as a substitute.
The 30-year-old was on the bench for the Lilywhite’s 2-0 win over West Ham on Sunday (19 February) but replaced Richarlison in the second half.
As shown on Sky Sports (19 February), just four minutes after being subbed on, Son scored the second goal for Spurs and helped secure the three points that moved them above Newcastle and into fourth in the Premier League.
Earlier in the season (17 September), the forward scored a hattrick inside 14 minutes in Tottenham’s 6-2 win over Leicester City, despite starting the game on the bench.
When asked if Conte will use Son as a “super sub” more often, Hutton told Football Insider: “The problem is nobody wants to be tagged with that, to be a super sub, because everybody wants to play.
“I do not think he will do it more often. He has had a little slump in his form probably due to the amount of football that he has played.
“His bar is set that high that you expect him to play at that level week in week out.

“But you are going to have dips in form and sometimes the best thing is to take him out, just for a little rest, to then bring him on and impact the game. That is exactly what he did.
“But I do not see that happening moving forward. I think it is just a case of him getting his confidence back, scoring the goals and then we will see the best of him. Sometimes as a player you just need a little rest.“
