Finance guru: Daniel Levy has launched ‘prestigious’ Tottenham plan – ‘this is as big as it gets’
The “prestige” that comes with hosting a Champions League final is more important to Tottenham than a “few extra million in the bank.”
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest news from behind the scenes at Spurs.
A source told this site last Tuesday (13 December) that the North Londoners want to host the Champions League final after 2026.

Chairman and co-owner Daniel Levy sees staging the showpiece event as the ultimate endorsement of their 62,850-seater stadium.
However, the clubs are aware that it could be some time before that dream is realised as Wembley Stadium is hosting in 2024.
Plumley explained how Spurs would profit if UEFA awarded them the rights to host a final.
“Proportionately, it won’t earn them a huge amount compared to what Spurs own from matchdays,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“It won’t be a big money spinner with regards compared to everything else that is in the pot but there is a prestige factor associated with the Champions League final.
“That stadium was always designed with this sort of prestige events in mind. We know they squeeze as much as from it as they possibly can.

“So, while it isn’t likely to happen for a few years, I think the prestige is worth a few extra million in the bank.
“With that in mind, it’s no surprise to see Spurs and Daniel Levy angling for this sort of thing. This is as big as it gets.”
