Tottenham idol ‘amazed’ as cut-price Franck Kessie deal on the cards after update
Paul Robinson has claimed Tottenham target Franck Kessie is an โamazingโ player but is not necessarily an upgrade on the current options at Hotspur Way.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one suggested the 25-year-old is on par with Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
According to Spanish outlet AS (1 December), Barcelona are willing to sell Kessie for a cut-price fee next year.
The centre-midfielder has failed to establish himself at the Nou Camp since joining on a free transfer from AC Milan last summer.
Spurs have held a long-term interest in the Ivorian.
When asked by Football Insider if Kessie would be a welcome addition at Spurs, Robinson said: โIโve not seen much of him since he moved to Barcelona in all honesty.
โIf you look at the type of player Conte likes, Kessie would fit the bill. He is strong, quick and effective at both ends of the pitch. He ticks a lot of boxes.

โThere is no doubting that he is an amazing player. The question is, would he come in and command a starting spot? Hojbjerg and Bentancur have done extremely well. [Yves] Bissouma has struggled to get a look in at times.
โWould Kessie upset that midfield? Maybe but I donโt think itโs a certainty. Itโs really important that Spurs sign better than what they already have.โ
In other news, a former Premier League referee has claimed Harry Kaneโs penalty should have been re-taken as his Tottenham teammate Hugo Lloris cheated.
