Tottenham idol mocks Uefa after £70m reveal from Swiss Ramble
Paul Robinson has mocked the Europa Conference League after Tottenham were booted out of the competition.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one said “nobody wants to play in the competition”.
As reported by Sky Sports (20 December), Spurs have been eliminated from the Europa Conference League after Uefa decided their postponed fixture against Rennes would be counted as a forfeit.

Tottenham’s fixture against Rennes on 9 December was called off after a Covid outbreak at the London club.
As revealed by finance expert Swiss Ramble (13 December) Spurs earned an estimated £10.3million from the group stages of the competition.
Manchester United, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool all earned north of £80million from their participation in the Champions League group stages.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the £70million disparity, Robinson said: “It shows why nobody wants to play in the competition.
“It’s called the conference league for a reason.
“For a lot of clubs, the competition is used by a lot of teams to give minutes to their second-string side. It is similar to how the League Cup is used. Spurs have not really fielded a side they would play in the Premier League in that competition.

“The Champions League is where top clubs need to be. Spurs have everything in place off the field to be a top club. They just have to get it right on the pitch now.
“It will not happen overnight but I think they’ve got the right manager to do that now. Conte can put them to where they need to be. The infrastructure of the club is there but on the pitch they’re nowhere near.”
In other news, there has been a major update on Tottenham’s bid to sign a Chelsea star as Paratici talks are lined up.
