Tottenham idol salutes Richarlison and teammate after footage emerges

Paul Robinson has claimed Richarlison and Cristiano Romero “bring a ruggedness” to a Tottenham side once perceived as “a soft touch.”

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one heaped praise on the duo after they stood up for teammate Son Heung-min.

As shown on The Spurs Web‘s Twitter (17 July), Son got into an altercation with a Sevilla player during a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Richarlison and Romero ran straight over to the aid over there teammate during the game that finished 1-1.

Robinson was overjoyed to see “a camaraderie” developing between Richarlison and the rest of the squad at an early stage.

“Richarlison and Romero do have an extra edge to them,” he told Football Insider.

“Naturally that bring that bit extra to the side. They bring a ruggedness and a steeliness that has sometimes been missing.

“In the past, Spurs have been deemed as a soft touch but now there is leaders in the side from the back right through to the front. Richarlison and Romero both bring an edge.

“Don’t get me wrong, Sonny stands up for himself on the pitch.

“It is nice to see a camaraderie and togetherness on the pitch already.”

Richarlison joined Spurs from Everton last month for a fee of around £52million.

He put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Antonio Conte’s side.
