Tottenham insider delighted by ‘surprise’ Tanganga development
John Wenham was blown away by Japhet Tanganga’s performance during Tottenham v Crystal Palace.
Spurs insider Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, was surprised to see the defender playing in a new position.
Tanganga, 22, started as the left-sided centre-back as Tottenham beat Crystal Palace 3-0 on Boxing Day.

This was his 14th appearance of the season but the first time he has played on the left side of a back three.
Wenham was left impressed with the defender’s performance in this new role.
“Tanganga looked really good against Palace,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He came in for Ben Davies and looked really confident. He was the more attacking central player of the three.
“Before Mourinho joined he was a centre-back, it was only under Mourinho where he became a right-back.
“He played as that right-sided centre-back in Nuno’s first few games so it was surprising to see him on the left.
“That being said, I think he did really well. He was getting high up the pitch and actually created a bit as well.
“He took his chance really, really well. I was delighted to see him play well.”

Tottenham moved up to fifth in the Premier League with their win over Palace.
They are next in action against Southampton on Tuesday (28 December).
In other news, an insider has been told by “multiple sources” that Tottenham are “confident” of agreeing a new contract with Harry Kane.
