Tottenham insider fears Nuno is ‘alienating’ stars as repeated issue spotted by fans v Burnley
Nuno Espirito Santo’s reluctance to make substitutions suggests he only trusts his strongest Tottenham players.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Tottenham progressed to the last eight in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night with a win over Burnley.
Nuno named a fairly strong team but after a goalless first half, Tottenham fans demanded to see changes.
According to Wenham, his has been a frequent worry for Spurs fans.
Against Newcastle on 17 October, Nuno didn’t make any subs and against West Ham last Sunday, his first change came in the 78th minute.
Wenham claims Nuno might not trust his fringe players after being let down by them on several occasions.
“You have to worry,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Again, he’s leaving substitutions very late. He made his first sub on the 78th minute against West Ham.
“It gives the impression that he really only trusts his first-team, obviously that isn’t sustainable.
“We need more players than just that starting 11. We have more cup games to come and at least another three games in Europe.
“Obviously, as we have seen, those players have let him down when given a chance.
“Nuno can’t afford to alienate so many players when he’s already being questioned.
“It’s a big worry for me.”

Tottenham next face Manchester United on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils didn’t have a midweek game as they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by West Ham in the previous round.
In other news, a club insider claims three stars may have played their last game for Tottenham, two started against Burnley.
