Tottenham insider issues bold Mason claim after major development

Ryan Mason’s promotion to first-team coach shows how highly he is rated by Tottenham.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Mason, 30, was handed a role as a first-team coach following the appointment of Antonio Conte.

Mason previously worked with the academy and took interim charge of the side following the sacking of Jose Mourinho last season.

Wenham insists Mason is receiving an incredible footballing education under some top managers and backed him to thrive in the new role.

“I was really pleased to see Ryan Mason promoted,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He obviously has the experience of working with or under Pochettino and Mourinho as well.

“He is getting a really good football education so far. I said last week that Tottenham would have no problem putting him in charge on an interim basis.

“The club rate him highly, he’s a brilliant coach. He has been given so much tutoring by some of the top managers in the game.

“He’s a future manager and I have no doubt he will be given an opportunity to manage at the top level at some point in the future.

“He’s well-liked by the squad and has a good relationship with the younger players.

“It’s a win-win situation. Those academy players really look up to him so any younger players who come through will have the backing and support they need.”

Tottenham drew 0-0 with Everton in Conte’s first game back in the Premier League.

They are next in action against Leeds after the international break.
