Tottenham insider issues ‘devastating’ Davies verdict after ‘I spoke to him’
Tottenham fans should be excited about Jez Davies following his impressive performance in the FA Youth Cup.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Davies, 17, scored twice and provided an assist as Tottenham’s Under 18’s beat Ipswich’s Under 18’s 5-1 in the FA Youth Cup last week (16 December).
Wenham admits he has been left impressed by the youth player after speaking to him in person.
“Jez is a really interesting player,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“There have been a couple of occasions where he has come on and had a huge cameo.
“He’s a very quick, skilful, direct midfield player. He seems to come on and have a devastating impact.
“I remember a time we played Chelsea at Cobham last year and beat them 6-1, Jez came on in that game and provided some assists.
“For me, he’s an exciting player. We picked him up for Leyton Orient and unfortunately he’s had a few injuries.
“I was at Hotspur Way earlier this season and he was stood next to me as the cameraman, taking photos for the website.
“I spoke to him and he explained to me he just wanted to feel like part of the team while he sat out with an ankle injury.

“He hasn’t had a prolonged game in either the Under-18s or 23s. Next season is a big one for him.
“So far, he is a bit of an unknown quantity. I’m excited to see more from him.”
In other news, an Insider has told Football Insider how Tottenham are working on a deal to sign “unbelievable” player in January.
