Tottenham insider lambasts 'shameful' Kane after what he spotted on pitch v Man United

Tottenham striker Harry Kane’s performance against Manchester United was “shameful”.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

The striker has been heavily criticised in recent weeks after failing to add to his sole Premier League goal this season.

He was also slammed for failing to properly mark Michail Antonio as he gave West Ham a 1-0 win over Spurs on 24 October.

Wenham has held back on criticising Kane in recent weeks but admitted his performance on Saturday was too poor to ignore.

“One thing I haven’t been prepared to do in recent weeks is criticise Harry Kane,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He is my favourite player of all time, I love everything about him.

“However, he was very, very poor against Manchester United. He looked like some journeyman striker from the lower leagues.

“That’s shameful. He’s the best number nine in the world and he’s performing like that in a game where we needed him most.

“He was up against Maguire and Varane, who just came back from injury. He should be dominating that game.

“From what I saw, there was a lack of effort and commitment from him. He should be disappointed in himself.

“He needs to offer far more than he did on Saturday.”

Kane has scored six goals in the EFL Cup and Europa Conference League this season.

His sole Premier League goal came in last month’s 3-2 win over relegation-threatened Newcastle.
